Oh I know, I know.... my youngest is almost 16 now and my oldest almost 22! They eat like a pair of starving elephants!
 
i dont trim them nor do i pull the membrane off. i cook my ribs membrane side down and it just goes away on its own. but i use an empty pan no foil nothing. i have tried trimming and removing the membrane seems no difference to me. just more work for no results.
