Smoking a Butt on friday evening (first time) on a Kettle

Well it's been on for just over 9 hours and the temp is at 170. Only thing is. I pushed on the shoulder to see how tender it is and I noticed it started to pull apart. Is this normal at a temp of 170? Or is my thermometer off? I guess I should have checked to see how accurate the thermometer was before I used it. The meat is all pink and seems to pull fairly easily.

If possible can someone get back to me ASAP to let me know so I don't overcook this baby.
 
Sorry this message isn't in time, but 170 is done enough for sliced pork and still wil be fairly tender. I took my first one off at about 172 and it was very good. It was definitely harder to pull than when I let it go to 195.
