Smokin on Saturday

Morning all. Found a 10 pound butt on sale so decided it needed smokin. Went on at 6:30am, minion method and rubbed with Blues Hog. All I had for smoke wood was Hickory, so that’s what I’m using. Here’s a shot of the little bugger all rubbed up and ready to go. Will post more as the day goes on.

A 10 lb butt? That's huge! The biggest I've been able to find in my area is 5.93 lbs, but most average less than a quarter pound in either direction from 5 lbs. Where'd you find that sucker? If I could get bigger butts, I would.

It sure looks good, I can't wait to see how it comes out.
 
Chris, check with any local butchers or meat speciality shops. One of my local shops handles the cryovac 2 packs. They comes from another supplier, 4 2-packs per case I think. I did 6 butts 2 weeks ago - 56 total lbs., so I know that they are out there. Good luck!

The butcher at our local Vons and I have become friends, I brought him some pulled pork once so now every time he sees good stuff coming in he let's us know. This one was on sale and we paid about nine bucks. Here's the rest of the pics.

Question for you Toby. I see you had some sausage there. Basically just throw it on there and now you have smoked sausage? Never thought of doing this since I got my WSM. I know what will go on next week with whatever I cook for smoke day! Vince

Howdy Vince, yup I just toss the sausage on then eat em like a hotdog or just slice em and serve as an appy.
