how much can you really get on a smokey joe?

burgers? sausages/dogs? average sized steaks?

Burgers and sausages work pretty good because they can be easily arranged for efficient use of space. Steaks and chops are a little more complicated because they're often larger and not uniformly shaped, and that can lead to wasted space.

I can easily cook for 2 on mine but for more than that it gets a little trickier.

just wondering if it is worth taking for family outings... we go to the lake a lot in warmer months.....

but i would be cooking for 5-6 people. keeping it simple with burgers and dogs. i have a gas ga.... but think itd be silly taking both.

Buy a cheap 18" OT from Craigslist and convert it into a portable. Get a full size grill for littla money

the sj's do rather well. sure they might take a little extra cooking time. what i would do is a test run while at home.
