That's great to hear Sameer. Hope it goes well. Make sure you inspect it well and see what the date is on the vents. If its less than 10 years its still under warranty for certain parts. Above all else, be sure to check that it is not warped. The lid, the mid section and the base should all fit nicely.
Good luck and we want to see pics of it when the deal is done.

Sameer,

Try filling the smokenator with 80 biquettes and light about 6 to 10. Once you put the lit ones in put a bigger water pan over top where the small pan goes. Less lid lifting and longer burn.

Ribs look really good.

Hi Joe,
No matter how hard I tried, I could only fit about 60 briquettes in without the water pan. Any trick to fitting 80 in there?
Sam

PS - hoping the WSM means no more smokenator for me though

I'll fill the entire cavity with unlit briq. except for 10-12 that are completely gray along with a couple chunks of wood. close down the hinge and place the water pan on top of the cooking grate. I close the bottom of my OTS halfway and the top vent halfway. That works for me. I'm at sea level though. Are you by chance at a higher elevation where the Oxygen in the air could be less concentrated?

If your getting a wsm I'm sure your smokenator days maybe over. Then again I have a ceramic and still like to smoke on my kettle.
I will check tomorrow on how many briquetts. I'll load up my smokenator. I could be wrong, it's been awhile.

So I just picked up the WSM. It's a DH from 2004. Missing a middle cooking grate, and the top grate is "well seasoned", so I might be needing both grates. Came with a cover and some perforated metal to go over the charcoal grill (for lump). No obvious dents or misfits, and I don't think any other parts are missing. Ended up paying $200 - not sure if that's a good deal or not since I don't see many WSM's on sale...

At any rate, the first rack of spares will get testing this weekend!

Congrats on your WSM Sameer. It's hard to find smokers in Canada so even though it's missing a grate it's still a decent deal.

Enjoy your first smoke this weekend!

Congrats Sameer !
it doesn't matter what you paid or whether its a deal or not. All that matters is whether you are happy with your purchase.
Anyway, I hope it brings you and who ever you cook for a lot of good times.

What are you gonna do with that smokenator now?
