I had a half bag of Piquintos left and mixed with 2 large smoked turkey wings from Thanksgiving, 1 large yellow onion, 6 cloves of garlic and 1/2 large bell pepper, along with various seasonings. Simmered for several hours, removed the bones and skin and enjoyed on a cold winter day! I absolutely love these beans!!

Oh yeah...I can smell Santa Maria in the air...nice touch with the turkey, although not bad with tri-tip...that looks worth trying, that sure looks good...

I sure had some good times surfin' the break at Lompoc as a kid...slept over on the beach a many a night...in fact, a good friend was saying we outta have a reunion, most of us are turning or have turned 50 in the past year...nothing like tri-tip and pinquitos after a long day of surfin'...that was a good many years ago...not sure I could even get up on a surfboard anymore...*lol*

Larry,

That looks awesome. Where did you get the beans?

I got the beans from a friend in Lompoc.

The beans are similar to pinto, but seem to be heartier and hold up to the long cooking a little better. I love the flavor and the texture of the piquintos!

Nice looking cook Larry. I love pinquitos. Wish I could get some bigger bags locally. I have found a couple stores that carry the smaller 1 lb. bags of Goya pink beans.

Can you get any further info on the pinquito bean availablity? I've tried online for any reference to the name on the bag in Lompoc or by zip code. After living on Central Coast for several years, I would really like to get a bag. The only other reference I found was mail order out of Napa,Ca.
Thanks for any info

Thanks much for the information. I'v tried other brands out of Santa Maria, but didn't have what I was looking for--mostly in the seasoning package that was included. Did find a recipe that sounded familar thru the Santa Maria Chamber of Commerce web page.
As a Niner fan, do agree with your opinion of the Cowboys.
Thanks again
Dick
