Small brisket

I have a 5.5 pound brisket. I'm a fairly new smoker, but have been successful with an 11-pound brisket. As a fairly new smoker, I've also ruined my share of meat, so here's a question for the experienced: Assume the same conditions as for the successful large brisket, because I'll use the same instructions. How long will the smaller one take?

I see what you're saying. Let's say you have an established way of cooking a brisket. If you cooked one half the weight of what you normally do, would you expect it to take very roughly half as long as the normal? Three quarters the usual time? The same?

A smaller cut may take about the same time as a larger cut. There are variables though.

A 12 lb brisket might take a a little over a little over an hour per pound cooked low and slow. A 4 or 5 lb flat may take 1.5-2.0 hours per lb.

Depends on the temps mostly, and not the weight

Mike,
Here is a link you might want to look at http://tvwbb.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4680069052/m...320052335#2320052335. I was only able to get small brisket flats for awhile and I would cook for about 1.5 hours and then I would foil with apple juice. It would take about 2 hours after that. It definitely did not work out to the 1.5 hours per pound rule of thumb. I normally did two flats at a time and you definitely noticed the difference in the meat. I would suggest using the fork tender method over temperature.
