Size is not important........

Ok checked out both 22 & 17 non-slate versions - both on clearance for $224 & $170(?)

Both are substantial (heavy) - if you have space go for 22

Compared to Blackstone 22 portable (no lid) $169 but not on sale: much heavier, much thicker griddle, much smoother surface, burners wind protected, lid

I would say finish and thickness of these griddles are similar to the slate insert I have

i have been looking at crates/boxes to store the 22 inch in whilst on my truck, with my v basic measuring skills any box would need to be
34 inch x 24 inch so maybe just looking at a cover to start. The carry bag with handles from Weber get poor reviews when i scoured the world wide inter web earlier.

Ugggh… just picked up 22 - remembered I had $20 ace coupon and couldn’t pass it up

I think if you secured the lid closed with straps on each end - you wouldn’t absolutely need bag

Haven’t seen the Weber bag you mentioned but not sure how cumbersome it would be to lift with just one arm

good reviews- https://www.weber.com/US/en/griddle/griddle-accessories/premium-griddle-cover/3400201.html

Not so good reviews- https://www.weber.com/US/en/griddle/griddle-accessories/griddle-travel-case/3400123.html

I may skip the crate idea and keep it simple with the cover.

Would have to be a pretty large case… hopefully with wheels

I just moved the box with my arm holding the “back” and the “front” resting on my hip - wouldn’t want to do that for more than a few yards

I see the travel case has handles on the left and right ends - doable for two people but probably awkward for one person

I can understand why Weber made the design decision to put the zipper along the bottom edge - it would be easier to place and adjust rather than aiming for clearing the 4 upright sides of the case

If you could secure the griddle in place and put a handle along the “front” edge of the case, it would be like a suitcase and probably manageable for one person

Except you are not accounting for the drip pan..... where is all the collected grease and fat gonna go?
Its just no that easy to 'put it on edge' to carry..... My Q I picked up --- I couldn't figure out how they got the 'spider screen' fully COATED with grease - along with the regulator..... Its obvious now that they folded the cart and dragged it tilted and al the grease ran out the edge. Portable and 'travel' grills are two separate categories to me --- a traveler should NOT drain grease everywhere.
