Shellfish

I was putting my kayak in the other day to get some crab on low tide and received the largest clam squirt ever.
Damn thing went right up my leg.
I see a big ole clam neck and then notice that they are all over the place.
I tried to wrestle a few out but lost.
After I set my crab pots I went and grabbed a shovel and caught a couple.
I didn’t want to get more than 2 because I’ve never tried these types of clams and didn’t want to needlessly over harvest.
They look like geoducks but they are horse clams.
We were going to have a crab feed party so I made up some clam ceviche as a side dish and it was fantastic.
I plan on loading up on more of these because they are yummy.

Never seen a horse clam but, I can see why it’s called that! Geoduck are really good, not that I get them here very often if ever. I don’t get to a coast very often but, certainly enjoy the goods when I can!

Holy cow, those are big. And hung like a horse, LOL! Sounds like you've stumbled upon some hidden treasure.
