Serial numbers

Hi all. I recently started a restoration project on an early ‘00s Genesis Gold C. I was trying to register the grill on my Weber app but the serial number is almost completely faded I was able to make it out as “DD0385410“ this came up as the same grill but the color says black and my grill is green. Does anyone know what character indicates the color of the grill and what I should put in to get green? Also the model number is 3260000

Back in the day, you could go to the local Weber dealer, and say "I want this grill" but it has a black lid and I want green. A lesser model with a green lid is sitting alongside. Dealer swaps lid and you're off to the races. Was common back in the days when people tried to please people

I edited my post to include the model number because the serial number came up with a different model number. Plus the side table is green so I think the green lid is original.

Honestly, I am not sure if the SN will map out to a specific lid color. However if you grill was indeed born as a Gold C, I believe it would have a SS lid. I could be wrong on that however.

EDIT: sorry, that is one of those "Fat Frame" grills. Not the same as the later Gold C grills.

Unless you're trying to get a new green lid, which doesn't exist anymore, you should be good.

Honestly, I am not sure if the SN will map out to a specific lid color.

I guess I was assuming that every character in the serial number represents something i.e. model, date, color and so on. I also wanted to know the year it was made.

These are grills not cars.

The first two letters of the serial number represent the year of manufacture. So yours would be 2000.

They used the "AUTHORIZED" code back then.
A U T H O R I Z E D
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0

The DD translates to 00 which is the last two digits of the model year. So 20 00

The following information pertains to grills made for the U.S. market. Some variations may exist for grills sold outside the U.S. and are noted below.

1985 to 1992

Weber did not code date information into the serial numbers of Genesis/Spirit grills made during these years. However, some owners report finding separate date stickers attached their grills, so you may want to look for that on early gassers.

The first-generation Genesis 1-5 grills had a serial number in this format:

_# 999999

_ was L for liquid propane or N for natural gas
# was the model number:

I just finished putting this Gold C back together. I completely disassembled it sanded it down and repainted everything. I wish i had remembered to take some before pics

I’m often guilty of doing that. That’s why I’ve started taking a picture of it before I load it up, or when I get it out.
