Sensor Grommets for WSM Rock's or BBQ Guru

I've been contemplating putting in a sensor grommet, which replaces a bolt in grate bracket so you can put a thermo through it instead of feeding it between the dome lid and body, which creased my probe wires.

The two eyelets/grommets can be found here:

I've heard a lot people comment about the BBQ Guru grommets but no one talking about Rock's. I just wondering which is better made. It's looks like the BBQ Guru grommet can't be removed unless you ruin it.

Thanks for any feedback folks!

I have Rocks. They have narrow diameter. My guess is the guru ones are almost identical. If your probe has a curve it probably will not fit through the grommet. (A maverick will not.)

They are easily to install, and are removeable

I have the BBQ guru grommet and have been happy with that. I can fit two curved probes through at a time. I'm curious, why would you ever want to remove the grommet after installation? Even when I am not using it to run a probe for one of my cooks, I just let it be.

Just to add... I have the eyelets from the Guru folks and I can easily get 2 curved (Nu-Temp) probes through one eyelet. Also, both of my WSM's have 4 eyelets installed, 2 top and 2 bottom grate. All are installed adjacent to one another and I've not had any issues with too much weight causing problems. I've not put more than 20 pounds of meat on any grate either..

Grommets work, but I've found it much easier to use a 3/4" x 1/8" wide notch in the top of the middle section. The notch allows you to quickly remove and add multiple probes, especially when using the Guru probes. The notch can be made with a circular saw and a metal cutting blade; then just sand the edges and paint with BBQ/high temperature paint.

Great idea, Ken! Just added it to my "Mods to Do" list.

Ken,Great idea!!! No more struggling with fitting food probes through the grommet.I'm going to assume there is enough length on the probe wires to go to the bottom rack?

I just run my probe leads under the dome. Minimal leakage, lead reaches bottom rack, and I hang the sender or 'CPU' part right on the WSM. No eyelets, or grooves. Haven't had any problems either.
