Seeing Double: Taking on an antique Broilmaster D2 & lessons for Weber restores

Hank, as I have told Josh before, Indiana is only 5/8 of the way back to where I came from in Ma, and it's a long 2800 miles! You mention Cape Cod, but I have lived in Falmouth and Westport before moving west-and love it!

So the disassembled, albeit sandblasted, “Double” I bought has sat for years in the shed I bought for the house we rent to my son and daughter-in-law. It has gathered dust there - out of sight (especially my wife’s😲) and out of mind.

Coincidentally, with Josh and Eric both now getting their own double Broilmaster IIs, my son and DIL have decided to move by her parents in North Carolina. That put my wife on the war path of helping them start to pack and telling me to get over there and get that “big grill thing” out of their shed!

So this morning I dutifully went over and rounded up the main body and cart and what other parts I could find. So now it is in my garage. No time to do major project like this before it gets too cold, and I have genuine fears that I will never figure out how to get this thing together and working again. But it would definitely be cool😎

I'd like to see it back to its original condition but you could do gas grill on the left and charcoal on the right if it's easier. Just a random thought. The three different height grates on the right could maybe work well with charcoal

I'd be curious as to what it has for a regulator as mine is missing. Running off the manual regulator I noticed a big flame increase when I shut one side down, wonder what it needs to run both sides properly
