Saturdays Lunch - Mr. Browns

I need to bring the food to a friends house. Will be about 8 of us with 3 kids

I'm comfortable with pork butt using Mr. Browns. I've been looking at other things I could throw on while that's cooking as sides and things that can compliment

ABTs sound amazing - i searched and wasn't able to find a complete basic recipe - i did find some nice variations though - most call for some meat in them, are there any without meat as this is last minute and I don't have any saved to throw in?

Also mushrooms wrapped in bacon sound great.

Any other thoughts on things that I could throw on while the smoker is in the 220 - 250 range?!

this will also be my first overnight cook as I have to have the pork ready to be consumed by around noon......... so wish me luck

for the kids think about smoking some all beef hotdogs. If you never have tried a real smoked hotdog, you and the kids are in for an easy treat. Relish, mustard, and bun is all you need.

Erik, you don't have to put meat in your ABTs. You could use different cheeses. Dice up mushrooms or shrimp even. There really is no wrong thing.

Erik,

Here is the recipe I use for ABTs that someone shared with me on another board. It never fails to please:

Lime Cilantro ABT's

1 package(8 0z I think) of cream cheese, softened.
1 decent-sized clove of garlic, chopped.
salt and pepper to taste.
juice from one lime.
1/4 cup of fresh chopped cilantro.
1 dozen jalapenos.
6 strips of bacon, cut in half.

It is so simple. Cut the top off each jalapeno and remove as much of the membrane and seeds you can. Set them aside.
Mix the softened cream cheese, garlic, salt and pepper, lime juice, and cilantro in a mixing bowl. Put the mixture in a pastry bag(or like I do, a quart-sized plastic bag and cut one of the corners off) and fill each jalapeno. After each one is filled, take a half strip of bacon, wrap it around the top(around in a collar-like fashion or from side to side). Secure bacon to the jalapeno with a toothpick.
Cook and enjoy.

And the leftover cream cheese mix is awesome with veggies or on a bagel.

Hope this helps.

I don't know if potatoes would compliment your meal or not. But I can tell you they are excellent smoked. I bought some yukon gold potatoes a while back and threw them on the smoker. Man those were good.

Those average sized probobly a bit smaller than your fist usually take close to 90 minutes. I haven't ever tried those large almost the size of a football potatoes so I can't comment on time for those.

For the ABT's you could always go with smokies instead of left over meat.

Other suggestions maybe smoke some mushrooms and make Dougs mushroom dip, or shicken wings or meat balls(although I do those at a higher temp than your looking at but it would probably work at the lower as long as you crisp the skin on the wingss).

Have fun!

Clark
