Sams club BBRs

So I picked up some Sams club BBRsat $2.50/lb and was excited cause they were super meaty.

I smoked em like I normally do, little longer actually cause they were so meaty. I was very disappointed. They didn't taste bad, but seemed to not have the flavor of other BBRs I normally get.

Anyone else have this issue? Could this be an anomaly?

I've bought lots of BBR's from Sams Club and Costco and didn't notice any
difference in flavor. What I do like about both clubs is that their BBR's are
usually real meaty. I just cook them my normal way until toothpick tender and
they taste great. Did you change up your rub or anything else other than smoking
them a little longer?

I've noticed sometimes BBR's are real good and sometimes they're just OK. It doesn't seem to matter where you buy them. What does matter is how much fat is distributed throughout the meat. Fattier ribs are jucier more tender. Fat = flavor. I also think it depends on how hungry you are and how much you are craving them when you eat them. The more you work yourself up for them the better they taste.

I bought some at sams and cooked last Saturday and they were great. They were the IBP brand. Never heard of or had but they were meaty, very impressed. Hated to have two freeze the other two racks as good as they were.

I've had good luck with loinback ribs from either Sam's or Costco, which are typically, IBP or Swift. When it comes to flavor though, spares are a safer bet due to the fat content. That and moisture retention is why I like to foil the loinback ribs with some juice and good stuff.

I smoked them the same way I always do. I didn't save the packaging, but I remember it said "Premium Pork" and it was a 3 pack of BBR's. I may give em another shot, but the flavor of the pork itself was just very bland.

Maybe I'll smoke them side by side with the grocery store's near my house. They were recently rated #1 meat on the south side of Chicago.

My BIL swears by Sam's clubs BB's, I've never tried them cause I'm a spare guy also. He's down around Hickory Hills and I think he shops at the one in Tinley Park.
Curious, whats the name of the number 1 rated store on the south-side?

I've heard good things on Berkots. I did that Mimi's cafe in Orland and one of my crew always raved about that place. I'll make sure to check it out next time I visit my Brother or my BIL.
Thank's!
