Has Royal Oak Chracoal gone under?
Every store that used to carry it now carries Cowboy(which is less consistent and seems to burn too fast) I am in the metro detroit area
I've gone through four of the 20# bags, and can't believe I didn't stop myself at two. The stuff has a horrible smell which transfers to your cook, not to mention all the foreign material (rocks, insulation, cement, etc.)
Sorry about the uncharacteristic rant, but GFS was my go to place for Royal Oak lump, and I feel they let us all down by going to their branded (and I think inferior) product.
Sorry to hear about that Jim.
I always buy my RO lump at Menards. Its been over a year sine I used the GFS brand, but I did pick up a bag last week ( haven't used it yet ) but I'll keep an eye out for anything that looks funky.
