Rotisserie for Performer

Weber's site says their rotisseries for 22.5 kettles won't work on the Platinum or Performer. Why is that? Does the table get in the way? If so, couldn't you just run the rotisseries front/back instead of side/side?

It's the lid bail bolts and nuts.
Edit: You would have to notch the ring, I had to do that with my Pizza q ring on the performer.

The only fire roti works on my performer without any modification. This was its first spin.

Maybe the generation or style performer makes a difference. This is a 2013 base-level performer.

My Performer is maybe 2 years old that I bought new.

I bought a used Weber original rotisserie setup. Mine works fine on the performer.

The ring on mine has 4 notches on the bottom. I set it up such that the spit rod is perpendicular to the long length of the table. Spit handle at the Weber logo side with motor on the back side.

Two of the notches clear the bolts for the bail lid holder. The other two notches don’t do anything unless I try to set the ring up another direction. By keeping the spit front/back the lid bail still works. 🤷

Also have a 2 year old performer that has no problem with the Weber rotisserie. In fact just did a rotisserie chicken tonight on that combo
