Ribs - do you rub with yellow mustard?

I've tried mustard 2 times on ribs and butts and will never use it again. It's messy and I've never had a problem with the rub sticking to the meat.

Also mustard + rub = paste = sticky mess = rub that comes off when you touch it with anything.

It's still great, but I don't care for the mess.

We use mustard on butts, not on ribs. We have been working on our recipes and for butts, the mustard slather paste thing we got going on is the best we have ever made. We will see how the judges like it real soon. But friends, family, and the hardest person of all to please "me" thinks its the best they have ever had in their life.

So, not everyone thinks a mustard slather is a total waste of time. To each their own.
