Restoring Weber hood emblems?????

I dont think we have discussed this in a while. Has anyone come up with a great way to restore the hood emblems on the middle aged and newer Genesis grills? Someone a while back mentioned using the belt sander and just removing all of the fake chrome all the way back to the base metal. This is what I have done a few times but I was hoping that maybe there was another solution these days. I must have 30 emblems in a zip lock that are just begging for resto day.
Thanks

Here’s Dan’s thread-within-a-thread where he describes that process:

I think Dan’s method is the best option. It was good of him to share his experience.

If you want to add a little spizazz maybe paint the kettle red as some of us do.
