Yeah, good thought. That would be my guess as well. I can't see them making new 1000 parts while ramping up a completely new grill design. To that point, I have seen a few Skyline grills with the tank scale from a Silver B that looked the same age as the grill, not added later. That's not definitive proof of anything, just a semi educated guess. The pictures of the DD code Skyline I saw matched up with my guess.I have a DD date code Silver B and have had it since new.
I wonder if weber had a special run of skyline 1200s also with DD date code to use up x000 inventory of parts in the same time frame as the silver B was being introduced.
I probably wouldn't say it's a Frankengrill, it appears to have all the correct parts except the igniter switch. You could definitely question the level of the restoration that was done.Frankengrill?
I fear there is an aroma emanating from this one and it’s not BAD just slightly “off” also, I would say cleaned up, not restored.
just my skeptical nature.
Yep! The old one and the 3d printed one are on the way back to me! I did steal the one from the silver bRichard, I apologize for forgetting you gave the igniter switch to a buddy to try and make a 3D printed copy of it.
