Restaurant Review: Daisy May's NYC

I just came back from visiting Daisy May's for the first time. The original plan was to check out a bbq joint in Brooklyn near the Brooklyn Brewery, we scratched the plan but still hankered for some 'que. Not sure why we picked this instead of RUB, but we did and it was good choice. I haven't been too excited lately about restaurant bbq, but Daisy May's didn't dissappoint.

Memphis Dry Ribs: nice smoke, spice and tenderness. The meat yielded from the bone but didn't fall off, and it was nice and pink top to bottom. I'm glad we opted for the dry, it was a nice contrast to the brisket and pork which were heavily sauced. Verdict...ALMOST as good as mine. I was impressed, but my ribs are customized to my taste buds.

Pulled Pork: pulled fine, heavy with Carolina mustard sauce. Their Carolina mustard was VERY similar to mine, which I thought was pretty cool. Verdict...ok, nothing special, too much sauce.

Brisket: chopped, sauce was heavy with molasses. It seemed good (moist, tender, smokey), but unfortunately the meat could not be showcased in the sauce. Verdict...good for a change but I like meat more than sauce so I would have preferred it unsauced.

Side: mac and cheese (excellent), creamed corn (excellent), beans (good), cornbread (bad).

all in all it was good bbq lunch which is far more than I can say about my recent que outings, just don't ask me how much 3 meals and 4 cokes cost us.

outside...mmm...smoke

That looks like a big meal JB, why did they drown the brisket and pp in sooo much sauce though, yuck. I guess I'm not making a living selling it so what do I know, I suppose thats what the masses like. Looks like a hundy you'll never get back
