Reputable websites to buy parts???

Unless there is an aftermarket company making replacements for these parts they will likely just be impossible to obtain soon enough. Then someone will have to make them out of whatever else is available, like burner tubes for the Jr.
Exactly why I'm stocking up on everything. So I don't have to worry about it for the rest of my keeper grill restorations. Also I've been worried that some day Dave Santana will retire so get it while you can is my thinking.

Those swinging baskets seem to be getting harder to find too, those are probably coming to extinction as well. Hardly anyone besides you and me will care. Weber still makes the regular warming rack and there are many aftermarket options as well. The only thing I would miss if RCplanebuyer called it a day would be the Zbars. There are so many other things that have become NLA just since I've been doing this that it's a little depressing. We all keep finding new ways to overcome this problem, which is great for the near future anyway.

I absolutely agree Steve! Well said

I bought one 26" and two 22" gorgeous thick stainless grates Weber kettles from Killa Grilla. The owner, Mark Baron, also worked personally with me to make a perfect replacement for my PK "one vent" grill. Mark has since retired, and how I wish I had been able to purchase some more from him before he did! I often compared Mark to Dave Santana saying that Mark was to kettle grills what Dave is to gas grills. They actually had very little overlap in what they made.

Hopefully this doesn't start a false roomer about Dave. For the record he hasn't said or hinted about retirement to me. I'm sorry about you loosing your fabricator Mark. I'm sure you are thankful for what you do have from him. Dave has been busy and is getting over being sick so it took longer than normal to return my message and he at least temporarily took down his add on Craigslist. The combination of those to things made me think that one day he will be done and probably without warning. Also I reached out to my Fabricator friend that lives a couple hours from me, where I grew up. His craftsmanship is also at the highest level. I finally have time and funds to go see him to get together to build 304 SS frames for a 1000 and a Junior. Well I was too late he retired. Probably for the best anyway. Fully restored properly these grills will far outlast my lifetime with original steel frames reconditioned. I'm still looking into it though.

I kept coming across an ad on eBay for a #99250 grease tray (silver/gold/platinum grills) In his description he claimed that it fit Genesis 1000-5000 grills. I sent him a message to correct his ad but I think he left it up wrong anyway. I wonder how many people got taken by that one?
Definitely some false advertising out there. I think a lot of people will just keep it instead of returning it. So the jerk selling under false description wins most of the time but ruins his reputation. Which doesn't mean anything to those kind of people.

You’re scaring me Steve. I really should consider stocking up. I ended up buying the summit 450 I mentioned a few weeks ago. I talked the guy down in price. I picked it up this past weekend. Need to tear it down and clean it up to really get a good idea of what needed. Will reach out to @Jon Tofte for the fire box plates if he has them still.

I know there are true craftsman available in the Detroit area and around the country; Welders, fabricators and machinists. Most of them older, retired and/or at the end of their careers. For a while, kids were told to learn how to code or work with computers because the manufacturing jobs were going over seas. I hope and think there will be a resurgence of younger people getting back into the trades to replace the Dave Santana's and Frank the welder at my neighborhood bar.

Nothing to be scared about. If you're committed to restoring this grill then buy what you can and go for it. I wouldn't fret over it lasting forever, you can always get something else or keep another grill in reserve. I personally would only consider one of those grills if I could get a cook box fabricated in stainless steel for it or could find one that had a pristine cook box already. They are beautiful grills but patching up the rotted out cook box of one doesn't really appeal to me. That's just my opinion and not meant to discourage you in any way. Jon did a wonderful job restoring his and I'm sure you could too.

Well…I gave the guy $80 for it. The grates are probably worth that. We’ll see how this works out. I know this grill will be a challenge all around but that’s ok.
