Replacement options for spirit 2 lid?

Thinking about making an offer on this Spirit 2 that has a major problem - severely dented lid.
Check out this great deal I found on letgo!

This is a brand new grill and the latest model. Does anyone know if older model lids would be compatible? I have seen some other older spirit 2 grills that are priced just right to be used for parts. Any thoughts?

Is it this one?

On that one also one knob is missing. This might just be a pulled knob or more damage since the lid is dented. The price is cheap but that grill requires a good inspection. But even for a parts grill it might be a good price. And yes the lids from older Genesis grills do fit. I actually once had the lid from a Genesis 1000 on a 3 burner Spirit with the front controls since the fireboxes have the exact same dimensions:

No, but I have considered that one as well with a good inspection.

Adrian, That link worked. I am wondering what it would cost for a new lid. It might be worth the money if it is "new".

The ad says factory default. If this is really a factory default that damage would be covered under warranty.

Factory Default or defect???
Yah, you would think it could have been replaced. In fact, I doubt it was a factory defect. I don't see how that could slip past a QC inspection. More likely it was damaged in shipping or maybe by the owner.

This seems like a better deal. Guy says he bought several at target on clearance a few weeks ago to resale. What do you think? By my check, you only need the date of purchase and the serial number to sign up for the warranty. So it would appear that I am getting the full benefit of the warranty. I did see them on clearance at Target a few weeks ago but not this low. https://offerup.co/tByKniTRNY

Sorry for being all over the place with these posts. I have given up on the damaged lid Spirit 2 and I’m now deciding between these two (a NIB Spirit 210 for $220 or a gently used Genesis current model for $350)

I know both serve different purposes, but I’m trying to go for what is the best overall deal. My ultimate goal is to find an older model and do a refurb. This grill would just be my current everyday use. Currently do not have a grill. Thoughts? Thanks for your time.

Genesis are always better built than spirit. Better materials and usually better options. Unless you never cook for more than three of four people, you will regret not getting the three burner as well.

If you don't mind spending another $130, the Genesis II is head and shoulders better than the Spirit II in my opinion. That isn't to knock the Spirit II, but it is just a 2-burner and very much an "entry level" grill.

Why don't you contact Stefan in our group and see if he couldn't set you up with an ALREADY RESTORED Genesis in that price range which would be better than either of the new options you are referencing. Then you can still do your own restore when you are able but enjoy a REAL Weber right now:george::coolkettle:.

Hauling grills from Dallas to San Antonio might be cost prohibitive. Plus I just sold one and don't have another refurbished grill anytime soon. But I have to admit not many older Weber grill show up in the San Antonio area.

But just searching CL San Antonio I came across this one:

If the cabinet is not too badly rusted and the lid not broken it would be a no brainer for $40.

This one is a bit pricey at $100:

This one looks interesting. Someone got creative and added a kettle to what looks like a Genesis 3000:

This one maybe worth the $25. But it is probably gone by now since the ad is a few months old.

And I am personally drooling over that one. But it was posted a year ago.

Interestingly enough, Stefan is the reason I joined the group. I reached out to him on Facebook because he had a restored grill that I really liked but unfortunately, Dallas was a little too far.

Here is one a few miles from me which just popped up:

I found this one which is very similar but not in as good of shape as the one in Richardson.

I’ve reached out but the guy but I’m not sure he is going to come off his asking price. Stefan, maybe we can settle on a price for the one in Richardson that would include the cost of us meeting halfway?
