Replacement cover for older 18.5 WSM

My cover fits like a size zero girdle on a six-hundred pound woman. Neighbors were laughing as I was rolling across my yard trying to wrestle the damn thing off so I could start my cook! I can't find a Weber replacement, nor do I really want to spend that kind of money on something I'll have to wrestle off again in a few years. Has anyone found a suitable replacement for this model? I'm just looking for something to protect the WSM from the elements.

My older covers on both gassers fit like that. Actually, both are split and need to be replaced. I can't imagine why a cover for the newer WSM wouldn't be a direct fit for your older WSM

Russ,

Go with the garbage bag and a bungee cord and save yourself a lot of money and headaches. I tossed the old cover a long time ago. Too much trouble.

If the cover is in good shape, you might do what I did to make my cover fit over the handles I installed: cut open the side seam, and glue in a triangular piece of vinyl that's maybe 6-8 inches wide at the bottom. You can use the glue that's used with PVC water pipe, but you have to be fast because it dries so quickly. This will increase the diameter of the cover enough to make it fit more loosely.
