Removing paint overspray from a lid

Just picked up 3300 with a black Platinum Series lid. Previous owner painted the sides of the lid, but neglected to tape off the porcelain top in any way. How can I remove the paint w/o damaging the lid specifically the grey stripes?

Paint thinner and some #0000 steel wool. It should come off real easy. It will not hurt the lid in the least. you might want to remove the end caps and weber logo badge first or they might get stripped of paint as well.
I had a blue lid genesis some guy painted over in flat black. I stripped it all off with paint thinner and steel wool. It is now the lid on my personal grill.

With paint stripper it will practically wash right off! I learned that from Larry when he saw that I was trying to remove paint from a completely painted hood using only Simple Green and 0000 steel wool. His idea worked like a charm.

Yah, I am sure goof off would work too. It is after all a solvent. But paint thinner is made from stripping paint and a lot cheaper than most anything else.
