Removing end cap trim pieces

I previously discussed removing the left end cap trim piece and decided to just keep intact with the extensions. Now I am attempting to remove the right one and having difficulty. It will not come out because of the tab on extension keeps it locked in. In the past I removed one by cutting condiment rack rod out and then gaining access to locking tab to release the end cap. Do you all know of any tricks to getting it off without cutting the condiment rack rod. Here is a pic of the grill.

Thanks Cody
I will give that a go tomorrow. I have the broom handle and small sledgehammer with which I was pounding it with, and it would not budge because of the locking tab.
The issue I have is I cannot see the tab hole because of the tight fit of the condiment rack.

Another issue is I may have ruined the RHS trim end cap because when I went to remove the bolt it stripped. I had to pry the bolt out with a hammer. So, it may be all for not.

Looked underneath with a flashlight and the tab hole is nowhere to be seen. The condiment rack does not have a cutout for the location of the tab hole in it. The condiment rack seems to be completely covering it.

Yah, that one probably doesn't have the locking tabs. It is likely just plain stuck. I find that is usually the left one that is the toughest to get out of the two. I wish you luck.

I thought it was locked because the one to backside came out the one to front side will not budge.

Well, then it is likely frozen in due to rust. You are probably going to have to sacrifice the frame or the end handle.

Sacrifice the frame or the condiment rack rod. If I do the rod, it may all be for not if there is not a tab hole underneath.

It's a lot easier to wrestle with that stuff when the grill is apart, it gives you more options. I also noticed you have those grills in your yard covered. That's going to trap a lot of moisture from the ground underneath those covers, probably not a good long term storage solution.

The end handle may not come out no matter if there is a tab or not. Besides, I find that if the handle is not rusted in, it will come out, tab or no no tab. But if the handle is froze inside the frame, it won't matter if you push up the tab or not. So, you have a choice. Keep whacking the handle outward until it finally budges or breaks. Or, you can use a cutoff wheel on an angle grinder and cut the frame off around the handle.

I hope to add rubber mats or pavers underneath. Just have not got the funds yet.

Spray some WD 40 or similar in there and let it sit for a day or two. Then try whacking it out. I've worked up quite a sweat getting those things out but I've always succeeded without breaking anything.

Take the lid off (and remove the bars and grates), and stand it on the end. Red line being the ground and load it with penetrating oil. IMG_9873.jpeg
Let it soak a couple days
