I am going to place an order for chunks today, just wondering if anyone has seen a difference between the two types of oak? I have only used Red in the past.....Thanks!

Smokinlicous site says that red imparts a bit more flavor than white. I never noticed much of a difference. Neither is very harsh

I've never noticed much of a difference. But Santa Maria Tri-tip requires red oak to be authentic. So you might as well go with the red oak if you're ever going to do Tri-tip.

I've used both over the years. As said above, the white is milder than the Red. I get the red for free, so that's what I use these days.
