Really Liking My Local Walmarts Meat Selection

I don't have a meat market in my town so my local choices are Kroger & Walmart. A while back Wally started caring these ribs which I love (shown this pic before but what the heck)

So today I go visit Wally to find something to smoke this weekend. Had a big pork shoulder in my hand when I walked by the meat section & saw this.....

Needless to say I put the pork shoulder back and brought this 13lb'er home. Just right for my 18.5 WSM. After I trim it I hope it will be more uniform from point to flat.

Do all Walmarts carry these?

Thanks,
Dan

My Walmart has it but when I need it they are out of stock. I guess I need to plan ahead and grab what I can and save for a future cook.

The Walmart in my town isn't allowed to sell meat. I couldn't find a packer here if I stood on my head on a busy street corner and spit wooden nickels.

Yeah, the local Wally World has them, but you can't tell from one day to the next if they'll be in stock. it's very frustrating! :)

Wow, sounds like some over active politics..........................d

Twin Cities WallyWorlds have started to carry a pretty good selection, including packers & the Farmland ribs shown above. I have had success using both, but that is the only type of meat I will buy there. Seems anytime in this area there is a meat recall, the food on WallyWorld shelves is the culprit.

My walmart here in Indiana has yet to carry the farmland brands, I wish they would as all I can find around here is smithfield enhanced ribs. I could go to my local butcher and spend 3 times as much for their all natural ribs but I just can't stomach spending 7 dollars a pound for spare ribs.

Around here, only the the "Super" Walmart stores carry packers. If you have a Restaurant Depot near you they will be your best source for any meat, selection and price.

That is why I joined them Jimmy, seems like it is hit and miss with WalMart and the grocers around here sell nothing but the flats.

And RD sells Angus briskets, which are a cut above Choice. I have seen 20+ pounders, but most of them go between 12 and 17 lbs. Hands down the best meat source in my area.
