re-freeze thawed meat?

In summation, a friend asked to have some of my frozen pulled pork to feed 15 people.

I thawed a vacuum sealed bag of PP last night to fulfill his request. However, he calls today and no longer needs it due the logistics of serving it.

Question is: Can I re-freeze the PP? It's still vacuum sealed, and it was thawed in the fridge.

My feeling is no, I cannot re-freeze.

... I'm not above trying to see if I can eat that much PP over the next few days. I hate wasting meat.

I don't think the above link is the same situation.

When you say you thawed it, it sounds like you just took it from the freezer and put it in the firdge to thaw. If that's all you did, I doubt it's even thawed and even if it was, throw it back in the freezer and don't worry. The most that will happen is the texture might be a little off when you re-thaw it and eat it. I would be surprised if you'd even notice and I'm sure that it won't hurt you (get anyone sick).

Sorry, but the answer is Yes - you can re-freeze - if it was a Jerry notes, something you simply thawed in the fridge and that is where it remained.

Even if completely thawed - but remained in the fridge - there is no issue here.

There are no pathogens that would have grown at fridge temps in that amount of time that would cause me the LEAST bit of concern.

Perfect... Yeah, it was taken from freezer and put right into fridge where it's remained for the last 24 hours.

Thanks as always Kevin.
