Raise the bottom rack?

As I stated earlier, I'm doing eight racks of spares for July 4th. The bottom grate sits on the clay base when I install it. Is it OK to put the meat on the grate as is or should I raise the grate off the clay base with something to prvide more air under the racks of ribs?

You're good. Just did 3 racks on my bottom grate over my clay saucer with no issues. Some people report their bottom grate runs hotter than the top with the clay saucer so you might want to keep this in mind. Mine does not run in this fashion; my bottom grate runs 10 degrees less than my top.
