Hello all....its 2025 and we have many Weber grills to save. I just had a repeat customer ask me to restore their Weber Platinum grill. I dont really dabble in the old stuff anymore and when I did I didnt do many Platinum's or Golds. I do seem to remember that when I did there was this odd very slight difference in burner size for these models. Am I remembering correctly? I have a whole stash of brand new Silver B burners so if they fit that would be great. I dont really want to use China burners in their beloved classic ..... Heck I am not even sure if this is called a Platinum thats just what the customer is calling it. To me it looks like a Silver B with extra's attached. Please educate me. See pic

I believe that’s technically a platinum B (since no sideburner) so yes this is the same burners, grates and flavor bars as a silver. It’s a nice looker! Bummer it’s missing a fold up table though!

I agree with all above.
you will enjoy rehabbing that grill aside from the likely hood of rust in the bottom of the cabinet.

Looks like possibly a 2005-6 Platinum that someone swapped out the control panel and knobs and maybe painted the hood end caps. You can definitely use readily available Silver parts for internals.

Thanks for the replies. They love their old school Weber and they understand that it will last another 10 years and want me to throw in a Trex floor and a tune up/safety check. Yes I will enjoy the resto because it makes it more fun when the owners love their grill. I have a bunch of Weber brand burner sets for Silver B's so I am all set. Larry your most likely correct that even the Weber brand burners are probably from China but man o man I love installing OEM so much more than the Amazon parts......they are night and day in quality difference. They do still have the other fold up prep table and they sent me a pic of the sticker down under.

Well then you’re in business and they’re going to have a mighty fine grip on their hands when it’s fixed up!

I enjoy seeing pics of in progress work, and it always gives me ideas/insight on how other folks do things, so please don’t be bashful and post plenty of pics! 🤣

Ok no problem. My expertise is really in the middle aged Genesis 300 series. This grill wont look a whole lot different other than shiny innards and a Trex bottom shelf but I will follow up here with some pics of the ole gal before and after.

Most people just don't realize that an old grill like that can be restored to like new condition.
