Question about swing table operation on older Genesis 1000

Can someone tell me exactly how the swing table on the older Genny 1000's works. It seems like a hassle if you have to reach under there and push the rod out of that stainless clip and then move it up to the hole in the front frame support. And then reverse for putting the table back down.
When I redid my Genesis 1000, I stole the slid off another newer grill and put it on mine and it works great. But I cant imagine manually moving the rod was the way Weber intended it before they went with the slide.

Anyone?

Sorry I can't help. You have my sympathy though. When I inherited my dad's 1000. I just couldn't really figure out that crazy swing up table! It was in kind of bad shape so I ordered a new one off eparts figuring there would be directions.

But the replacement was the slide version. It works and fit great. But I never did figure out the original LOL.

The Genesis 1, 2, etc. had a rod. Yes you reach under and insert the end of the rod into a hole in the frame tube. Not really so bad

When you drop the table, then you have to make sure you get it into that clip on the back frame leg. It just seems very inconvenient.

Yah, that was when you were 30 years old. Now, I have to nearly get down on my knees to fit that rod back into the clip. LOL

Yah, no big deal thirty years ago when I was 25, but now I have to nearly get down on my knees to get that rod back into the clip. The slide bar was a big improvement.

Well I was actually entering my mid 40's when I bought that grill LOL. 42 actually LOL. My youngest (the one you met in passing at the house) was 3 at the time. Now HER little boy is gonna be 8 in 3 weeks. Cinco de Mayo was my 8th anniversary of my stroke also. I spent that CDM in a hospital in Woodbury MN

I love the newer style with the slide bar. I don't use it every time but when I'm grilling a lot of stuff the extra shelf is really great and essential.

Yah, I wish I could find a source for the bar and then the plastic clip so I could convert all my older Genesis 1000's. It is just so slick compared to the "Stick it in the hole" method.

Yah, yah, go ahead, crack a joke now guys.
