Hope all is well. I have seen a few conversations around about the heat shield in the WSM 14.5. I for one have not had a problem with it...but - I am getting ready to build a new "home" for my WSM. I scored an extra steel table from Weber after a snafu with my performer deluxe assembly.
I am going to use the table and build a wood frame for it, almost similar to a performer deluxe cart, simply made out of wood instead. Instead of the wire racking in the bottom, I plan on using like 1x6 boards or something along those lines.
My question is, do you think the heat shield in the 14.5 is enough or should I take extra measures for underneath the WSM? I was thinking of doing the mod in this thread http://tvwbb.com/showthread.php?63948-More-room-for-ash-14-5 but I'm not sure if that would be enough.
