Problem with using two mavericks at once

First time using 2 mavericks and the second one I powered on is showing temps all over the place. Any ideas?

Dean, I only use one Maverick. However, if you are using two, you must eliminate "Cross Talk" between the two units. They have to be on different channels, I would think.

Maybe a simple phone call to Maverick will answer your question if they don't have an answer on their web site.

Just a thought,

Thanks Robert. I emailed them earlier today. I thought that there would be quite a few people on this forum that used a couple of these units at a time.

I used only one maverick...my first one...foot temps was all over the place and incorrect....very disappointed....with return to company and get a new one since this one is defected

Emailed Maverick yesterday and received a reply today from a lady named Prescilla. She said there should be no problem with the 2 units interfering with each other as long as they were turned on separately so it sounded to her like a problem with the temp probe either being crushed or pinched, probe was submerged in water or other liquid or it was exposed to too high heat or direct flame and she recommended me purchasing a replacement. I then explained that this was the first use of this unit straight out of the box and that I hadn't even wiped off the probe for the grill much less submerged it in water and that the temperature never exceeded 350 degrees. After learning this she asked for my address so she could mail me a replacement at no charge to me. A fast response and a fast resolution of the problem from Maverick. I presume this will fix it and Ill let you know as soon as I receive the replacement probe.

I own and have used two Maverick digital therms at the same time. I haven't ever had any problems.

Dean just read your post. I had the same thing happen last weekend. My nephew invited me to help him cook for 24 people. I brought my stuff including the Maverick. Was cooking a brisket on a Komado and I noticed the temps spreading between the grill dome therm and my Maverick so we tried Maverick for a second opinion. They went wonky then we tried my probes in his and vice versa. We got some erratic readings at first and so I shut everything down and restarted. His was still reading 30 degrees higher than mine on the opposite side of a 19" grill? I had tested mine in boiling water, he had not so I did not think much more about it until now. The brisket turned out okay, no issues. I never thought about them interfering with each other but then again I'm not very techy.
FYI

I only use the one I have at a time and have never had an issue. I read where the batteries only last six hours. I think mine are going on around 30. Hope the probes were a fix to your problem, let us know.

I could have tried taking the probe from the stable maverick on the one grill and plugging it into the brand new out of the box maverick on the other grill to see if that corrected the problem but I was so sure that the problem was interference between the 2 units that I didn't even consider this. The problem with this maverick was not a consistent reading that was too high or low but the fact that it would show something like 325 and then switch to say 175 in an instant and would do this with random readings back and forth. The lady with maverick industries is sure its a probe related issue and has mailed me one so I will post results of the performance of the unit when I receive the new probe and use it on my next cook.

Well since this was the first use and I had just installed the batteries that came with maverick I don't think this will be the problem but if the new probe doesn't correct it I will certainly try new batteries.

I have 3 mavericks and have used all three at once many times. You have to turn them on separately. The batteries can be a problem.
I will always start a cook with freshly recharged rechargeable batteries.

I have 5 or 6 LNS cooks on mine of about 6 hours. I was wondering how long they would last. I had no idea of the time span.

Just now getting back on this because this is the first time I've used two sets of the maverick thermometers again. Right after I originally posted this problem I got in touch with maverick industries and they said it was a bad meat probe and sent me a replacement. Today I'm using the replacement probe and I'm not having any problems using two sets of mavericks at the same time. Thanks maverick industries.
