Looking for a little help. My loving wife has offered up my services as a pitmaster as an item in a silent auction for a school fundraiser. Figuring 2-3 hours of hands-on prep and BBQ talk, and I will watch babysit the cook overnight and deliver the goods (complete with sauce and hog apple beans) the following day.

Would love your thoughts on the valuation of this item. (food/ingredients are being donated by a local grocer).

I figure $200 is a fair number (keep in mind this is Fairfield County CT....)

D - You picked a harsh critical audience to give you a price for a silent auction. I've been to many of them but only as a buyer. lol. Now Bob Correll will probably put a price on the cooking event of approx. $100,000.00

that amount. Because of it being a fund raiser, my friend, don't be surprised if the price goes from $50.00 to $60.00.

Most of the time these things are done in fun and I don't think you can honestly find a value. Whatever the ultimate price becomes, you will be donating your time and efforts. And my hat is off to you for your generosity. Bob

Curious as to where you are in Fairfield County, I'm from Newtown.

My wife also volunteered my services to cook for a fundraiser silent auction. We agreed on a menu of Pulled pork, slaw, Hogg-apple beans, and biscuits. Enough for 12 people. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the winning bid was $260. The person who lost in the final seconds was disappointed, so we decided to throw in a second cook at the $260 level.

Given that, and since you are also providing hands-on, I would expect nothing less than $250. Especially if they set the minimum at something like $200 (quite reasonable given your time).

We are down in Norwalk (Originally from the low country of SC).

Yeah that is what they are trying to do, figure out the min. starting bid so that they can get the most for the school. Apparently this auction is wildly successful in years past so I am hopeful that my contribution pays off well for them. I don't really care b/c no matter what the thing goes for I have a built in weekend of quality time with the Weber in my future...
