Going to cook this Sat. Do I treat it just like a butt time and temprerature wise? Should I use apple, hickory, oak or any combination?

Hi Doug,
Yes, you can treat the picnic pretty much the same as a butt. Picnics often tend to have a little less internal fat than butts (in my experience), but it shouldn't make that much of a difference. Some of the best pulled pork I've ever made came from picnics.
As for wood, I like hickory for butts and picnics.
