Polder or Maverick ET-73 ????

Called Maverick this AM to arrange returning the transmitter after its total melt down. After explaining the problem, the Maverick rep said they would just ship a new one and I need not return the defective trans. That was cool!! Stay tuned for any late breaking news.

I have both. I have 2 Polder and both have quit on me. The Maverick ET-73 I also have 2 and one unit went bad and Maverick replaced it for me. Very happy with customer service. Range is a little weak on the units. Have put the receiver by my bed a couple of times and lost signal to the transmitter. Range is the only thing I see wrong with the Maverick. If I had my choices today it would be Maverick. Someone said something about Accu Rite I don't care for them at all.

John, See my post in your Maverick/wires thread. I posted to wrong thread. Part of my reply belonged here

Recieved my replacement from Maverick. The transmitter was a rebuilt, judging from the fingerprints and that the locking screw was marred. So Saturday I did a beer can chicken, using both food and grill probes on the Weber grill. Noticed a very wide range of temps between the grill and Weber gauge in the handle. Then ran a boiling water test on the gauges and the grill temp was 15/20dgrs lower then the 210/212 mark. The 73 propes were only wiped with a damp towel, never immersed.
So with all that said and my past history with the 73's, I don't think I could recommend them. In the future I'm just going to smoke until it is done.

At this point in time I'm going to smoke untill it's done also. I have a lid thermometer, and will use an instant read therm as necessary.

I have my WSM in the "aluminum" sided garage, then I have a brick home and a couple of interior walls in between the smoker and where I would like to keep the receiver that being said, i'm guessing the receiver probably would not receive the signal as necessary.

Happy smoking !!!
