Don't ever use mineral spirits as paint prep. It is basically Kerosene and leaves an oily residue. Always use a clean evaporating solvent. Also don't know what all the wash with dawn stuff is all about. Simply remove the offending parts, sand, wipe with solvent, when dry paint.
I mentioned those 2 because I have them. Mayb will go with the acetone. Any experience with the Krylon high heat max. I have some at home or is the Rustoleum ultra better?
Thanks again everyone. Weber told me same thing I need to buy whole handle. Never thought of just painting by removing handle. I kept on thinking taping the lid, handle then painting. This is so much easier
Those pieces separate easily from the actual handle. Only two long thru bolts hold the entire assembly to the lid. There is a tab on each of the spacers that are peeling so easy to put back in. That way after you remove the handle, you can properly prepare them for painting. That will give you a much better result than taping the lid and handle itself.
