Plastic brining pails

A local food store is selling 5 gallon pails that contained peach pie filling for $1.00 Would they be ok to use for brining. I would think if they were used for this they would be ok. Would appreciate any input. Thanks in advance. Go Colts!

I have two pails I use; one is a 5 gallon pail that came from a rest. that use to contain sliced pickles; the other I bought from a rest. supply house. I would think that the peach pail would be just fine.

Bruce is right. If it originally had food in it, and has been put to no other use, then it's food safe.

You can check your local grocery stores bakery. The ones around here will give you the old frosting buckets free of charge.
