Hi all,
I had a little challenge with my iQue at first. I used it on my Kingsford cooker and the temp was running hot, and I figured it was leaking air. (As it turns out, I can close up the Kingsford and kill a lump fire, so that wasn't it)
That initial temp overrun is what prompted me to pick up my OTS on CL.
I tested the iQue on the OTS and it ran hot on that unit too. That is when I got a little discouraged.
At the same time I built the MINI-WSM. I hooked it up to the iQue too. For that cooker, I installed a ball valve in line. I played with the valve and finally figured out that a little restriction was needed to help the iQue moderate air-flow.
I have at least three cooks on the Mini using the iQue with temps holding right where I set them. I could not be happier.
The NBBD is now sitting there all lonely since I dont need to tend a fire any more. I will only use that smoker when I really want to build a wood fire and have lots of time to mess with it. (Like never!)
