I just used the Pitmaster 110 with my WSM 18.5 this weekend. 250 plus or minus 10 for over 12 hours unattended. I think I'm in love.

I love my IQ 110 also. I run 10 hours at 225 without a hitch. My 18" WSM hold at plus or minus 5 deg. at 225. By far the best bbq investment I have ever made !!!!!

Do you guys use water when you cook with that? I usually don't but I've been reading some people have had problems with theirs, and since I was thinking of getting an iq, Im interested in what you guys think, p.s. I have a 22 if that matters at all.

sorry I am late to the party, I have now used my Q110 for three smokes on my 22.5 I too am in love. Two of my smokes were over night. works like a charm, but hen again I love gadgets

Casey, I just ordered the Pitmaster IQ and they use water in the video showing how to attach the device to a 22.5 WSM.

Question for you guys that love the IQ 110. Do you run the probe up the inside? How do you get the middle section on with the probe wire still inside near the fire ring?

I use the pitmaster iq 110 with my WSM 22.5. I didn't use water in the pan. I foiled the water pan and placed a 15" corderite pizza stone wrapped in foil in the water pan, and foiled over the stone and water pan again. Worked like a charm. I don't know if this is good for the temp probe cable, but I run it on the outside of the cooker. The wsm lid CAREFULLY rests on the cable.

I run mine up from the bottom, 22.5 silver,
through the first tape layer then reinforce with small pieces of tape around the entry hole.
Newbee here just adding my 2 cents.

I've been told by John at Pitmaster IQ that you should not run the cable up the inside and instead, cut a small slit in the lip where the dome sits on the mid section or run the temp probe in through the top vent, keeping that top vent closed to 25%. So far I've done that twice and there is about a 25 degree difference between what the IQ is set at and what the dome thermometer is reading. If I run the IQ at 250, the Weber dome is reading about 225.

Hi all,

I had a little challenge with my iQue at first. I used it on my Kingsford cooker and the temp was running hot, and I figured it was leaking air. (As it turns out, I can close up the Kingsford and kill a lump fire, so that wasn't it)

That initial temp overrun is what prompted me to pick up my OTS on CL.

I tested the iQue on the OTS and it ran hot on that unit too. That is when I got a little discouraged.

At the same time I built the MINI-WSM. I hooked it up to the iQue too. For that cooker, I installed a ball valve in line. I played with the valve and finally figured out that a little restriction was needed to help the iQue moderate air-flow.

I have at least three cooks on the Mini using the iQue with temps holding right where I set them. I could not be happier.

The NBBD is now sitting there all lonely since I dont need to tend a fire any more. I will only use that smoker when I really want to build a wood fire and have lots of time to mess with it. (Like never!)

Hi Brad,
You asked what ball valve? I started out with a brass 3/4" female pipe thread valve and had it opened about halfway.

I finally ended with a less expensive setup for the mini, and moved the brass valve over to the Kingsford.

I used a plastic valve at the end of about 6" of black-iron pipe.
