Pit Viper & Digiq DX2 Installation on 22.5 WSM -- How do you fold the adaptor?

As the title implies, I have a new Digiq DX2 unit along with the Pit Viper blower unit to use with my WSB 22.5. The Digiq DX2 unit itself does not seem too difficult to use, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to fold / bend the metal sheet that becomes the adaptor for the Pit Viper blower to attach to the lower vent holes on my 22.5 WSM.

I know people on this forum us this combination in their cooks -- does anybody care to share how they bent the metal sheet to make it work with the Pit Viper blower unit?

There were no bending instructions included in the box, and I cannot find a good video on Youtube that shows this step. All I have found is how to use the units AFTER the adaptor has been successfully connected to the WSM.

Your comments and / or links to useful videos would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance and smoke on!!

Although I don't have one, maybe if you post pics of what you have we can offer ideas.

This is the best video I have found on Youtube that shows how to use these units. Right around the 5:10 mark you can see where this guy attaches his Digiq DX2 to his Weber, but he never shows how to connect the adaptor to the WSM in the first place. That's the step I am missing.

Here is the adaptor that must be folded to fit into one of the lower vent holes for the Pit Viper to attach as shown in the video. I have yet to bend mine at all because once bent it will either fit or be ruined and this whole set up costs about $300, so I don't want to screw it up.

Thanks for looking and for comments.

That metal piece is used as a bracket to hold the DigiQ unit, not to attach the blower to the WSM itself. There is a "round" tubular adapter that attaches to one of the vent holes on the WSM, for that. The video shows him sliding the blower into that adapter. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the post, Al. Do you happen to know if the tubular adapter that attaches to the vent hole is supposed to be included with this contraption? The whole set up cost about $300 which is a hell of a lot of money to have to just through so many hoops to get it to work....

I appreciate all the posts...

I figured it all out. Never mind. Thanks.

You don't fold that adapter (so embarrassed)....that sheet of metal is to hold the DigiQ DX2 on your WSM 22.5. If you go to www.bbqguru.com, they sell the "missing" adapter for $20.
