Pictures of my finished Weber 1000

Here are some pictures of my Red Weber 1000 that I picked up off of CL a few weeks ago. I repainted the cooking box and put new burners, flavorizer bars, ignitor, SS cooking grate, warmer rack and warmer basket. I also had to change the quick disconnect on my regulator to the new style so I could use an existing full tank I had. I did not paint the frame as it was still in good shape. Here are some pictures.

looks great. i havn't done much on my 3000 as i got distracted this summer. i will be doing a whole frame up reconditioning. hopefully it will get done this spring.

Thanks guys. Now I just need to cook on it. I'm still not sure if my manifold is working right. On high, the flames are not very high and on low they are barely coming out of the burners. Since I have never owned this version, I don't know if this is normal or not. For those of you who have this model or a similar three burner grill, how high do the flames get on high?.

I might get another warming basket to match my new one. I'm not sure if there are supposed to be two since mine only came with one but there is a place for two in the lid.

I did buy a new holder for the pan on the bottom but have not installed it yet. I'll probably just use the old one until it rusts off.

All in all, I'm happy on how it looks.

Very, very nice.

I like the redheads, even the gassers, and it looks like you did an admirable rehab job on this one!

Good cooking to y'all!

Thanks Pat. I forgot to mention that my flavorizer bars are SS and came from that guy on Ebay(cannot remember his name). They are high quality and were at a great price. Fast shipping too.

Wow!

Looks very good and I am sure it will cook just great.

The flames are about 1/2 inch or maybe 3/4 inch on high. If they are even from one side to the other and the temp gets to 599 or 550 it is good to go. If they don't you might want to increase the pressure just a little(not much) by removing the white top on the regulator and turning the screw inside about one turn.

You could rig a manometer with some clear vinyl tubing in a U shape with water in the bottom of the U. Leave one end open and fasten the other to the plug on the bottom of the manifold where the side burner would fasten. Then with the gas turned on the difference between the two arms of the U should be 11 inches which is 11 inches water column.

BTW it only came with one warming basket

Gary,
Thanks for the info. I will have to check and see if the flames get that high. It doesn't seem that they do. The flames seem to be all of the same size from all burners.

I'm not sure if I know what you mean about taking the white top off of the regulator. I don't recall mine having a white top. Which way do you turn the screw? Thanks again.

Wa;yne

in your picture timed 2:35 I can see the regulator and it has a black top not white. Unscrew the black cap. To adjust: inside there is a slot for a screwdriver turn it clockwise to increase the presure.

Just a silly little thing. Our propane bottles contain a different mix of propane and butane depending upon the ambient temp expected when the supply tank was filled.. Propane is adjusted to maintain from I think 125 to 150 psi at ambient temp so if you filled your tank in the heat of the summer it would have much lower pressure now that it is cold. Just something to think about

Gary,
This tank that I'm using is actually my fiancee's that had been sitting on her back deck for a few years. Its full but I don't have a clue how long ago it was actually filled or what time of the year. I guess I need to hook up the tank from my Genesis A and see if there is any difference in flame output. Thanks again.

Have you cooked anything on your "new Grill"? I cooked a 5 rib Prime Prime rib roast for Christmas and our family of 4 ate till we could no longer walk!

Hope you had a great Christmas!

Gary,
I hope you had a great holiday. I have not had a chance to cook on the grill yet. The weather has been very cold and snowy lately. Plus it gets windy here a lot and that plays havoc with the gas grills.

I have not got a chance to play with the regulator to see if I can get more flame out of it. I don't get 1" flames on high at all and on low the flames are barely coming out and some of the flames go out.

Weber said that they still offer the manifold for about $75 so I may end up having to get one. Hopefully I will get a chance to cook on it soon. Its supposed to be very cold for at least the next week. It only got up to 17* today. Take care.

Hey guys,
I just got done messing around with this grill. I put the knobs on high and let it run for a few minutes. The flames on the middle burner did not get as high as the other two and the end away from the manifold turned cherry red. These burners are new so it shouldn't be that. I did not mess with adjusting the regulator because it takes an allen wrench to adjust it and I didn't have any handy. Do you think its the manifold? Its the only thing that hasn't been replaced. Thanks for any ideas.
