Picked up an old broilmaster double grill today...

Eric I think it could look really cool with the logo sanded down after paint. I'm not planning to do that on mine. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to go flat or semi-gloss

Undecided on repainting? You can always swing back and do that after you get it cleaned up and working properly.
Undecided on the look. I'm thinking I like it, but it's hard to do the little flame and I really like that detail. This was a VERY quick once over with a square palm sander so I'm sure I could do better

These are the knobs from my newer version “double.” If you wanted to take a walk on the wilder side, you could try painting the Broilmaster name and flame light blue similar to how some of us paint the kettle red on the Weber badges. 😲

I remembered to weigh the main burner. InsaneView attachment 120506
That looks like it should clean up great!
I have been thinking about what you said about using SS washers for spacers between the top and bottom of the burner pieces and I think they could maybe block too much gas. If you could cut skinny strips out of the washers or find something more similar to the original SS pieces. Just a thought and a guess that I had.

Just discovered that harbor freight carries an identical wheel to replace the one wonky one on my grill. That's a happy use for chat gpt! Took a picture and asked it to find me a wheel that matches and it did!

My new thermometers arrived today.
They seem to function well enough. I can't test for accuracy as well as I hoped because my probes max out at 572º and both sides were higher than that. I think with replacement heat shields in both sides and some lava rock inside it should even out a bit better. And obviously I need to adjust the main grill side as the flames were far too yellow
