Pesto...on pizza

My son reintroduced me to pesto...on homemade pizza. Wow! It even came out of a jar.
Classic: fresh basil, pine nuts (I have seen walnuts), parmesian cheese, garlic, olive oil...this is magic.
Anyone have some favorite twists on this?

I make pesto spreads and white sauces for pizza routinely (I don't make 'pizza sauce' at all) so it's pretty common around here.

In addition to the classic basil pesto: sun-dried tomato-basil-pine nut pesto, cilantro-pecan, roasted garlic-thyme-parsley-almond, sage-pecan-garlic, arugula-garlic-pine nut asiago.

If you use the basic premise you can come up with many mixtures that work well and that are appropriate for the meat and/or veg additions.

Herb(s)...nut...cheese (optional)...aromatic(s) like garlic, scallion, shallot (optional)...oil (olive, walnut, almond, hazlenut, grapeseed, etc. ...spice(s) (optional)

Thanks...I think I have some uses for the basil, thyme and, oregano trying to grow in the garden.

There is a good chunk of Romano Cheese and Walnuts waiting for me.
