Overnight smoking and shoot out between Kettle VS Smoker

Hello to you all.

I want to try an over night smoke out with my kettle and my Brinkman Electric Smoker.
This will also be a test to which one works best.
I plan to use the snake method with my kettle to smoke a Butt.
The Brinkman will also have a Butt, however, I plan to just toss 5 or 6 chuncks of wood in the smoker.
3 or 4 chuncks will have been soaked in water and placed near the burner (not on it) to help slow down the time they start to smoke.

Anything you feel I need to do before I try this, please let me know.

Thanks

Any idea what temp your electric Brinkman gets to?? Mine (in storage, probably never to be used again) was always in excess of 315 degrees.
My first brisket, a flat, made some nice burn ends (didn't even know what they were back then, lol). Remember my daughter saying, "I really like this darker, over-cooked part!" LOL. Definately looking forward to your results...

Soaking chunks doesn't do much. Most people use chips in their electrics, and these should be soaked for a couple of hrs. Unsoaked chunks in the kettle. Lots of advice here on smoking on a kettle. Good luck.

Had to cancel the overnight Smoke out due to work and.....I ordered a WSM 18.5.
This will give me 3" more cooking suface space than the Brinkman.

Congrats o the WSM. When. You get it I am confident you will love it. I have a WSM, performer, and genesis. Each has its strengths and weaknesses. It is all a mater of the right tool for the task. Have fun.
