Overnight Brisket - ET-73 Losing Connection

Hi All,

I'm in the middle of an overnight brisket smoke. My ET-73 seems to be losing its connection. Am I wrong, but if it shows a smoker temp is it still live? It seems to stick at a temp and I go out and the base is reading different. To qualify, I'm less than 100 feet away in a normal house?

Help. I'm worried that the alarm won't sound once I fall asleep if the temps go sideways.

Note that when I turn the base off and back on it settles back.

Well my ET-73 losing connection too,but be sure you have good batteries in it makes a huge difference.

I am less than 25 feet from my smoker and my connection drops. I just move toward the smoker until it connects back up. If you do a search on the ET you will find it is a common problem. There are many solutions to the issue in the thread. None of which I am capable of doing.

The first thing I would check is the batteries. I was smoking yesterday and the two units were well within range, but it wasn't updating the receiver very well. Changed the batteries and worked just fine.

The reception on my ET73 is horrible but I got it for it's dual temp display. I don't care about the remote.

Threw 2 6lb butts on at about 1230 this morning and had to bring the smoker closer to the house to get reception where I was sleeping. Never seem to get good range on this thing.

It was my first midnite cook and I was pleased with the overall result and experience. And so were all the guests that came over to watch football this afternoon. Pulled pork sanwiches and nachos
