open lid does not stay on

I have a odd problem, im trying to figure out on an heatermeter, I have not seen before. When I turn on the open lid detect, it will stay on for 21 seconds max, regardless of what i set it at, unless its below 21 seconds. I have reset the atmega, and tried to reprogram it also. Could it be a hardware, or just a screwed up atmega. Nothing seems to work. My next test will be a new atmega and a fresh install, hopefully this fixes it.
 
Lid mode will turn off when the pit temp is reached... maybe thats the issue? Otherwise I might try another SD card? rPi standard or + model?
