Online wood sources...

Hmm.. I was going to recommend chuckssmokehouse.com but their web site is having issues. Wonder if they went out of business.

If there is a DoItBest hardware store anywhere within driving distance then you're in luck. You can go on their website and order from there. They will ship it to whatever store you choose (at no charge) and you can pick it up there. Just be SURE to bring your online receipt. I've used it many times and it works really well. The store owner gets the credit for the sale in the corporate eyes, so you're not stiffing them.

Also, FruitaWoodChunks.com has a very good selection. Not the cheapest but good stuff.

I just placed an order with Fruita wood. They were the cheapest source for peach, that my search yielded anyways. Quick delivery, reasonable prices. That's my vote. Home Depot and Ace Hardware always have cherry, apple, hickory and mesquite, here in AZ.

Russell,

Thanks for posting the list. With the general lack of selection in most home supply purveyors stock, we asked some comp teams for suggestions. Made our first trip to the wood shed and bingo, they had what we needed. Well, almost. Was looking for another particular fruit wood. They had sold out the day before. Seems a certain team took all they had. Spoke with that pitmaster later in the day and sure enough, his truck bed was pile high with logs.

Good to know about another local source, Cal Char. Looks like they also have a well respected lump supplier, RO !

Excellent suggestion! The website has several different flavors of wood, and there's a DoItBest about 10 minutes from my house!

I ordered some peach wood from fruitawood, I was happy with my purchase, if you have delivered to a commercial address they give you 3 extra pounds free, so it went to my office.

Tony, since you live in AZ you could benefit from this....there is a large lot full of trimmed pecan branches along the west side of I-10 (accessible by the frontage road) a few miles south of Casa Grande. I've never stopped there, but the last few times I've driven by there is a large sign that says "free pecan wood". FWIW...
