r the older daisy wheel kettles 22 inch better then the newer onetouch system? i can buy a daisy wheel style for 30 and its a black one

I like my 3 wheel a lot. Never had a one touch, don't think that I would need one. The ash sweep of th eone touch is nice but with a little mod I keep the ashes off of my wheels. Plus the old ones have wooden handles. YIPEE.

OK Mark... are those tuna cans? and are they "mounted" somehow or ??
and, how do you clean the ashes out of your grill...?

i LOVE the "one touch system". Easy to controll temp and easy to clean. I would even prefer it on my WSM

i can't imagine cooking on anything but a one-touch.

however i do own a 3-wheel kettle and plan on cooking with it after it's fully restored

Until 2008 I had nothing but my old 3 wheeler!
Then I bought a new OTG.....

I doubt that I will ever part with my old three wheeler, I still love her, she works perfectly just as when she was new, but I must admit, she only gets used now a days, as a backup, or if I am feeling sentimental.
In my opinion, The one touch system is so much easier to use for temp controll, and ash removal, it has actually lead to me grilling, and bbq-ing more often. I think that is a good thing!

Well to tell you the truth I can't remember what kind of cans. All I know is that they fit. To clean ashes I use the roll and pour method. Pick up the grill, roll her over and pour out the ashes. To facilitate this I have the legs secured to the bowl with clips. Easy! Oh, and the ashes do fall in the cans but for some unknown reason maybe 75% less than falls outside the cans. It was a hair brained idea that works. Who woulda thunk?

All you had to do was put the ash pan under the charcoal grate and catch 100% of the ashes. Super easy clean up too. What's nice about the OT system is that you don't have to open three drafts, but only one and for shut down as well. You can also achieve higher temps because the openings are bigger so there is less baffling. The top one is usually a little larger as well on the OTS. Having said that, I still like the three wheelers, just not better than the OT.

Excellent solution for legs that fall off there Mark ! I like it !.. I think I may just have to do that mod on my kettles !

Corey

Nice job Mark, please tell me what type of drill bit was used for this mod.

By the way, I usually just twist tighten them.

A sharp one! Shaun, you always do things the easy way!

Once a leg came off during a cook with the Smoke-EZ on and that was the last time a leg was ever going to come off. By Golly!!!

Mark,
How does that Smoke-EZ work for you?
How well does it hold temps?
Can you post some pics of it?
Thanks! AJ

I have used it once for an all nighter and it held temp good. I have used it for comp chicken and will again this Sat. When doing a HH cook I put the coals in the smoke ring instead of outside like a slow cook. To me it's a cheap version of a 22.5 WSM and you have a kettle too.
