Old Crow Chicago

Hey all...It seems like it's been forever since I have posted. Teaching, grad school, and family all seem to have really kept me busy. I have been lurking and all the pictures look great!

Anyway...if you're ever in Chicago, check out Old Crow Smokehouse. It's in Wrigleyville. Tony Scruggs is the pitmaster. He was on MasterChef, and is fairly well known locally. I was there this weekend and saw him walking around. I went up and introduced myself and he couldn't have been more approachable. Talked shop for a bit and saw my enthusiasm and passion for BBQ, so he took me around and showed me his operation, and then he even gave me some of his rub to use at home.

So if you're ever in Chicago, I highly suggest stopping in.

LOL Jim. I know, we had stopped there on a pub crawl, had a few, eaten, and I realized I hadn't taken any pics of the food! I saw Tony and geeked out, my buddies had no idea who it was. It confirmed my obsession with all things BBQ!

Where is the aquarium smoker and the bulletproof glass? Are you sure you were really in Chicago?

How was the Q and what would you compare it to?

Thanks guys. Bob, the food was really good. As far as comparing it to anything, I know this will sound like a cop-out, but it's unique I''ll say from the spice blend side. We had the ribs and the brisket and what you can really tell is that it's smoked really well and to perfection by somebody who loves what they're doing. Closest I'd compare it to would be Smoque, Lillies, etc. They all seem to smoke/bbq in similar ways.

hey they have one out in the burbs too in schaumburg. will be checking this place out!

thanks for the rec!
